Privacy Policy
Effective October 24, 2026
The short version: Yoink has no accounts, ads, analytics or trackers. Your parties stay on your device. The one thing that leaves it is the name a guest chooses to RSVP with, which goes to the host through iCloud.
Who we are
Yoink: White Elephant Games ("Yoink", "we", "us") is an iPhone app for running white elephant gift exchanges. This policy explains what happens to information when you use the app and this website.
Information we collect
Yoink does not ask you to create an account and does not send personal information to us. The only information that leaves your device is an RSVP, described below, and it goes to the party's host, not to us.
RSVPs
When a guest taps "I'll be there" on a party invite, Yoink asks for a name and stores it, along with the party's invite code and whether they're coming, in Apple's iCloud (CloudKit). The host's copy of Yoink reads those RSVPs to fill in the player list. The name is whatever the guest types, and it's the only thing shared. Guests can withdraw at any time from the invite, and the host can edit or remove names on their player list. We don't see RSVPs, use them for anything else, or keep them after the party. RSVPing requires being signed in to iCloud; Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Information stored on your device
To run a party, Yoink saves what you type and choose in the app, such as:
- Party names, player names and the turn order
- Gifts, steals, duel results and party recaps
- Custom duel games you create
- Your settings, like sound, haptics and appearance
This information is stored only on your iPhone. It is never sent to us, and we have no way to see it. Deleting a party removes it, and deleting the app removes everything Yoink has stored.
Camera and photos
You can add a photo to a gift so everyone remembers which is which. Yoink asks for permission before it uses your camera or photo library, and only uses them when you choose to add a gift photo. Photos you add are saved with the party on your device and are not uploaded anywhere.
TV mode
TV mode shows the party on a TV using AirPlay or a cable. The picture goes straight from your iPhone to your TV over your local connection. Nothing is sent to us.
Purchases
The TV mode unlock is a one-time in-app purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your name, Apple ID, email or payment details. Apple's handling of your information is described in Apple's Privacy Policy.
Crash reports
If you've turned on "Share With App Developers" in your iPhone's privacy settings, Apple may share anonymous crash and usage reports with us to help fix problems. These reports don't identify you, and you can turn sharing off at any time in Settings.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share personal information. Party invites and recaps go only where you choose to send them. An RSVP name is shared with one person: the host of that party.
Children
Yoink is made for families and all ages. The app has no accounts and collects no personal information beyond an optional RSVP name, which is shared only with the party's host.
This website
This site has no cookies, analytics or trackers. It is hosted by GitHub Pages, which may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security, as described in GitHub's Privacy Statement.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date above.
